The Company was established in 1956 by a group of Veterinary Surgeons, to supply veterinary requisites with a regular van delivery service. The business has grown to its current size with several moves of premises. The VSSCo site at Lisburn contains 2050 sq. metres (approx 22000 sq. feet) of warehouse space plus a modern office facility.
The company has a turnover in excess of £20 million (stg) and employs 32 people. Distribution in Northern Ireland is by company owned vehicles, while next day delivery, via carrier is available for Practices beyond six counties.
The company has recently introduced a Direct Order Entry system which allows customers to place orders via e-mail. This facility affords practices the ability to place orders any time seven days a week.
The Board of Directors is comprised of practising Veterinary Surgeons, elected by the shareholders. The company has currently 114 shareholders, with representation in over 70% of practices in the North of Ireland. The business focusses on providing all the needs of veterinary practices, drugs, vaccines, petfoods, sundries and equipment.
The company's mission statement is to provide a low cost route for goods from manufacturers worldwide to veterinary practices in Ireland. We are an ethical company dealing exclusively within the veterinary profession. We aim to provide the best value across the entire range of products.
